The prestigious recognition was presented during the ongoing ITTF Africa Youth Championships in Accra, Ghana, where the President of ITTF Africa, Mr Enitan Oshodi, commended Okusan’s unwavering commitment to sports journalism and his remarkable role in documenting the growth of table tennis for more than a decade.
Presenting the award, Oshodi described Okusan as one of Africa’s most consistent and influential voices in table tennis reporting, whose dedication has significantly elevated the sport’s visibility across the continent and on the global stage.
He continued, “For well over ten years, Okusan has remained at the forefront of table tennis journalism, producing hundreds of insightful reports, feature stories, interviews and analyses that have chronicled the achievements of African players, administrators, coaches and competitions. His extensive coverage has not only celebrated the successes of the sport but has also helped preserve its rich history while promoting emerging talents”. He posited.
Beyond journalism, Okusan has earned widespread respect within the international table tennis community through his active involvement in the sport’s administration and media development. His professionalism, accuracy and passion have made him a trusted voice among athletes, officials and stakeholders across Africa and internationally.
