Somolu Council Chief, Agba-Akin of Agboyi Kingdom congratulate Super Eagles on AFCON Bronze

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, alongside the immediate past Chairman of the council and Agba-Akin of Agboyi Kingdom, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, have congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their impressive performance at the just-concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, where the team defeated the Pharaohs of Egypt to clinch the bronze medal.

In a congratulatory message on Sunday, the Somolu council boss described the Super Eagles’ victory as a proud moment for Nigeria, noting that the triumph against a formidable Egyptian side underscored the resilience, discipline and fighting spirit that define the Nigerian team.

Hon. Ashimi applauded the players, technical crew and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their commitment throughout the tournament, stressing that the bronze medal finish is a testament to hard work, teamwork and belief in the nation’s footballing potential.

“This victory has once again united Nigerians at home and in the diaspora. The Super Eagles have shown that with determination and focus, Nigeria can stand tall among the best footballing nations in Africa,” Ashimi said.

Similarly, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, the Agba-Akin of Agboyi Kingdom, lauded the Super Eagles for their courage and sportsmanship, particularly in bouncing back strongly to secure the third-place finish. He described the win over Egypt as symbolic, adding that it restored national pride and renewed hope in Nigerian football.

According to Dullar, the performance of the Super Eagles at the AFCON reflects the indomitable Nigerian spirit and serves as inspiration to young footballers across the country to pursue excellence through discipline and perseverance.
