Sheikh Abiola Bashir Ahmad has admonished Muslim faithful to observe Solat (prayer) strictly in accordance with Islamic injunctions, stressing that proper observance remains the backbone of a true and acceptable act of worship in Islam.
According to Sheikh Ahmad, many believers undermine the essence of prayer by rushing through its rites or observing it carelessly, thereby defeating its spiritual purpose. He noted that Islam places great importance on correct intention (niyyah), proper ablution (wudu), punctuality and concentration (khushu‘) during prayer.
“Prayer is a covenant between a servant and Allah. It should be observed as prescribed, not according to personal convenience or assumptions,” the cleric stated, urging Muslims to seek knowledge to improve their understanding of religious obligations constantly.
Sheikh Ahmad further reminded worshippers that prayer serves as a moral compass, restraining believers from immoral and ungodly acts, as clearly stated in the Qur’an. He added that consistent and correct observance of prayer strengthens faith, promotes discipline and fosters unity within the Muslim community.
The cleric also called on parents and guardians to instil the culture of proper prayer in their children from an early age, noting that nurturing sound religious values is key to building a morally upright society.
He concluded by praying for Allah’s guidance upon the faithful, urging them to remain steadfast in worship and to always strive for excellence in their relationship with their Creator.
