In a synergistic address, Hon. Lateef Ashimi has charged the members of the New Era Somolu Chapter of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), led by Comrade Ibrahim Madiba (Atiku), to make tolerance and diligence the cornerstones of their operations.
This directive, delivered with an eye toward progressive change, aimed to position the group as a primary catalyst for genuine community development within the Somolu area.
Speaking earlier today in a separate engagement following the distribution of 2,000 Renewed Hope Palliatives to Elderly Citizens, Chairman Ashimi, known for his forward-thinking leadership, emphasised that the OPC’s mandate extends far beyond traditional roles.
“Indeed, your name reflects your mandate. We must shed old biases and embrace an inclusive, forward-looking mindset. Our effectiveness will no longer be measured solely by strength, but by the strength of our character.”
“Our image must reflect our ambition. When the community sees the OPC, they must see professionalism, reliability, and genuine service. Let our actions be our signature – impeccable and impactful,” he stated.
In the presence of the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Hassan Ojomu, he also commended their leadership and conduct at the Bajulaiye Canal Bridge alongside the Environmental Team, and the Nigeria Forest Security Service, which further strengthened environmental protection within the axis and served to forestall the questionable culture of illegal refuse dumping.
In response, the delegation appreciated the Council Chairman for his remarkable administrative moves, citing his impressive start to ensure inclusive governance and the essential programmes aimed at grassroots growth.
