The entire Somolu community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of the Baale of Akoka-Igbari community, Alhaji Chief Shakirudeen Junaid, in Ward G area of the local government, who joined His ancestors on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, as reported.
According to a press statement released from the Office of the Chairman through his Chief Press Secretary, AbdulWasiu Badiru, the council boss, Hon. Ashimi, described the sudden passing of the traditional chief, a passionate community leader and father to many, as a deadly blow not only to his immediate family but to the entire Somolu community and Lagos State at large.
He continued, “We have lost a great traditional custodian, our hearts trembled upon hearing of the passing of a well-loved father, passionate leader, and great traditional custodian in Somolu, Alhaji Chief Shakirudeen Adisa Junaid, the Baale of Akoka-Igbari Community in Ward G Area, who transitioned to glory yesterday.”
“We cannot question God but rather pray to God to grant him eternal rest and give the family he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.
Before joining his ancestors, the late Baale of Akoka was well known for his remarkable contributions towards the growth and progress of our domain alongside his colleagues, whom we all held in high esteem for their significant importance.
