Ashimi to Council Workers: ‘Give me all the necessary support’

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has on Tuesday, 10th November 2025, called on council workers to give him their full cooperation and unwavering support as he assumes the mantle of leadership in the council.

Hon. Ashimi made the appeal during a familiarisation/courtesy visit by NULGE Lagos President, Comrd. Sunday Sewanu Ogunfowora to the local government, where he met with the management team and staff of the local government. He emphasised that effective governance and smooth administration can only be achieved through teamwork, dedication, and mutual understanding among all employees.

While addressing the gathering, Hon. Ashimi commended the workforce for their continued commitment to duty and urged them to remain steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities. He assured that his administration would prioritise staff welfare, operational efficiency, and an open-door policy that encourages communication and innovation.

“Government cannot function effectively without the cooperation of its workforce. I seek your total support and collaboration so that together we can move Somolu Local Government to greater heights”. Ashimi said.

He further stated that his leadership would build on the achievements of past administrations while introducing new initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and fostering development across all departments.

Responding on behalf of the staff, a senior official, Comrade Tunde Babington, expressed confidence in the new Executive Chairman’s leadership capacity and pledged the workers’ full support toward achieving the council’s goals.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with optimism that the new administration will usher in a renewed sense of purpose, unity, and productivity among the Somolu council staff.
