Somolu Local Government was on Wednesday 9th July 2025 aglow with celebration as the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu, ‘Dullar’, for executing and commissioning four impactful legacy projects that will transform governance and grassroots development in the council.
The projects commissioned include a state-of-the-art Administrative Building, a modern Legislative Building, a fully equipped Fire Service Station, and a Police Post- each symbolizing progress and visionary leadership.
Represented at the ceremony by Hajia Fatimah Tajudeen Abass, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senator Tinubu praised Hon. ‘Dullar’ for “bequeathing enduring legacies to generations yet unborn.” She described him as a “Star Boy” among Council Chairmen—not just in Lagos State but across Nigeria—affirming that he has written his name in gold through these historic initiatives.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Lagos State Governor, represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, hailed Dullar’s leadership and noted that his performance had set a high benchmark for incoming Chairmen. She urged his successor to maintain the new infrastructure and deepen public service delivery.
Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, echoed the sentiment, stating that the people of Somolu made the right choice electing Dullar in 2017 and re-electing him in 2021. He encouraged residents to support APC candidates in the upcoming local government elections to sustain the ongoing development.
From the Governance Advisory Council, Senator Anthony Adefuye and Prince Rabiu Oluwa expressed admiration for the quality and execution of the projects. Oluwa particularly emphasized that Dullar’s achievements had made campaigning in Somolu easier for the party, commending the unity among councillors, executive members, and the community.
The member representing Somolu at the State Assembly also praised the completion of the projects and applauded the Chairman’s feat of constructing 64 roads over his eight-year tenure.
Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, applauded the initiative to build a Fire Station—an effort rarely undertaken by local councils. She assured immediate deployment of personnel and pledged to add a second fire truck to complement the one purchased by the Council.
In security matters, Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Khan, representing the Lagos Commissioner of Police, lauded the establishment of the Police Post, citing it as a step towards improved grassroots policing and increased operational efficiency.
The grand commissioning drew a host of dignitaries include Alhaji Akanni Seriki (Baba Bamu), Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Conference 57 Chairman and Bariga LCDA Boss, Hon. David Kolade Alabi, the Chairman of Odi Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA; Hon. Lukman Ajala, High Chiefs representing Oba of Somolu, Oba Adelani Adeniyi (Adebayo of Odogbawojo), the Oniladaba of Iladaba; Oba Nureni Ebudola, the Onirokun of Irokun; Oba Buhari Balogun, and the Omola of Odomola; Oba Adesina Adebowale.
Other also present at the commissioning were the Chief Imam of Somolu local government; Sheik Bilyamin Olanrewaju Dabiri, the CAN Representative; Prophet Simon Adedoyin, Wives of Lagos House of Representatives members, Leader of the House, Hon. Yomi Osikoya, Members of TAMPAN, Council Manager, Mr. Abiodun Babington and other senior officials
The event was not just a celebration of infrastructure—it was a reaffirmation of grassroots governance at its best, anchored in vision, delivery, and inclusive leadership.
