Somolu dazzled at the grand APC Mega Rally held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Government College, Ikorodu, where the All Progressives Congress assembled its full Lagos East strength ahead of the July 12 local government elections. Somolu’s impressive delegation was led by the committed chairmanship candidate, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, and his vice chairmanship running mate, Hon. Taiwo Ojomu, earning thunderous applause from the enthusiastic crowd.
Alongside them were Somolu’s full slate of eight councilorship candidates: Hon. Tosin Odubanjo (Ward A), Hon. Sinat Adelaja (Ward B), Hon. Afolarin Olubiyi (Ward C), Hon. Ibrahim Oduntan (Ward D), Hon. Afees Raheem (Ward E), Hon. Kemi Mayabikan (Ward F), Hon. Tunde James Oyeyiola (Ward G) and Hon. David Olugbenro (Ward H)
Their united appearance signalled unity, preparedness, and commitment to progressive grassroots governance.
Somolu’s presence was led by the high-performing Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, and further strengthened by APC apex leaders: Apostle Peter Oyewusi, Alhaji Fatai Bakare, Hon. Ademola Olisa-Adefalujo, Hon. (Mrs.) Abosede Ogunlaja, and former chairman, Olorogun Gbolahan Bago-Stowe. The Somolu APC Campaign Council, under the leadership of Director-General, Hon. Adding critical leadership presence were Hon. Yomi Osunkoya, Leader of the Somolu Legislative Council; Hon. Yomi Olubamido, Somolu APC LGA Chairman; and Alhaji Mubashir Akodu, who led ward chairmen from across the local government. Their participation demonstrated coordination, discipline, and confidence in APC’s victory.
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and Senator Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru charged the massive crowd to vote decisively for the APC, describing Lagos East as the strong political fortress of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
The rally attracted political leaders and council executives from all 16 local councils in Lagos East: Somolu, Bariga, Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri, Agboyi-Ketu, Ikorodu, Ikorodu North, Ikorodu West, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ijede, Imota, Ikosi-Ejinrin, Epe, Eredo, Ibeju-Lekki, and Lekki—displaying the party’s deep grassroots influence across the region.
Also present were Lagos APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and his predecessor, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, lending institutional authority to the event.
With chants of “One Voice, One Vision, One Victory,” Somolu didn’t just attend—it led boldly toward victory on July 12.
