In a commendable display of unity and political maturity, key leaders, councillorship aspirants, and the current candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijebutedo community of Somolu Local Government have reconciled their differences ahead of the July 12, 2025, local government elections.
The reconciliation meeting, held on Wednesday the 25th June 2025. at No. 1, Ibiyemi Street, Palmgrove, Lagos at exactly 5pm brought together major stakeholders including aspirants, party elders, and youth representatives. The atmosphere was one of renewed commitment to party loyalty, grassroots development, and peaceful coexistence.
The APC councillorship candidate for Ijebutedo, Hon. Folarin Olubiyi (Coded) who emerged after a keenly contested party primary, was warmly received by former contenders who pledged their total support to his candidacy.
Speaking at the peace parley, APC chieftain and respected Chairman of Ijebutedo leaders Forum, Hon. Tajudeen AbdulRasaq described the reconciliation as a “victory for all,” noting that internal cohesion was key to the party’s success in the forthcoming polls.
“This is what true leadership is all about – putting personal interests aside for the progress of the party and the community. Ijebutedo must speak with one voice on July 12,” AbdulRasaq said.
Hon. Folarin Olubiyi, while appreciating his fellow aspirants for their show of sportsmanship, called on all residents to rally behind the APC for continued development. He assured that, if elected, his tenure would be driven by transparency, youth empowerment, and improved community infrastructure.
“I see this reconciliation as a mandate from the people. Together, we can deliver greater progress to Ijebutedo. I thank my fellow aspirants for their maturity and spirit of unity,” Olubiyi stated.
Present at the event were Hon Rasak Tajudeen, Hm Olawale, Mr Maiyegun, Mr Muyiwa Olukoya, Mr Paul, G.O Adeniyi, Alhaji Sheu Bolakale, Mrs.Yinka Oladipupo, and Mrs. Funke Nwankwo.
Others also present at the reconciliation meeting were Four 4 zonal chairmen, Akeem Jimoh, Bolanle Sodiq, Mr Leke Shonukan, Funsho Peters who praised the Ijebutedo leaders and other stakeholders for setting a positive example for other wards in Somolu.
