…dignitaries, clerics, and well-wishers storm Somolu for a celebration of love and tradition
In a heartwarming blend of tradition, faith, and celebration, a prominent political figure in the Somolu Local Government area of the State, Hon. AbdulRasaq Tajudeen, popularly known as Baba-Oja, played host to dignitaries, political, community leaders, and Islamic clerics on Thursday, 9th May, 2025, as his son got married to his better-half at a grand Akhidu Nikkahi ceremony.
The colourful event, which took place on Saturday, at held at the Prestigious Ojo Square Event Centre, Somou, Lagos. saw the solemnization of Holy Matrimony between AbdulHammed Oluwagbenga Tajudeen and his bride, Nimah Mojisola Egberongbe, under Islamic rites and customs.
The cleric-led proceedings were anchored by respected Islamic scholars who emphasised the importance of love, patience, and mutual respect in marital life.
The Super for Market and other Matters, who remains an influential figure in Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu Dullar’s Cabinet and grassroots politics, was visibly overjoyed, expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for witnessing what he described as “a prayer answered and a future secured for our son and daughter-in-law.”
Among the high-profile guests in attendance were the former sole administrator of Somolu local government and APC Apex leader, Hon. Willy Lawanson, a Somolu APC Chairmanship aspirant; Hon. Ladi Omifare, the chairman of Ward E leaders; Hon. Oluwole Olowole (Denmark); and community leaders from across the local government and the state.
The event was not only spiritual but also cultural, with an Introduction and traditional engagement taking place shortly after the solemnization.
Guests were treated to an array of delicious local dishes by one of the best caterers in the state, Prestige Party Concern, followed by light music and joyful dancing, as family and friends came together to celebrate the latest couple in town.
In his brief remarks, the groom’s father, Hon. AbdulRasaq, appreciated all who came to honour his family.
He continued, “Today is a day of joy for me, my wife, and our entire household. I pray that Allah blesses this union with love, peace, and enduring companionship. I also thank my political associates, colleagues and the community for standing with us.”
The newlyweds, AbdulHammed and Nimah, were full of smiles as they received prayers and goodwill messages from attendees. In line with Islamic tradition, the bride was ushered into her new home later that evening in a small, prayer-filled family gathering.
The event proceeded without incident, and a testament to the meticulous planning and coordination by the organisers while the ceremony was widely praised for its elegance, cultural richness, and religious significance.
