In a remarkable show of commitment to grassroots development, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, on Wednesday April 16, 2025, marked Day 3 of her ongoing project commissioning tour with the unveiling of six newly constructed and rehabilitated roads across key areas of the council.
The infrastructure blitz, which began earlier in the week, has now gained significant momentum as residents witnessed the commissioning of another set of magnificent roads, bringing the total number of commissioned road projects within three days to an impressive twelve.
The newly completed roads commissioned on Day 3 include:
1. Onikosi Phase I, Ketu
2. Onikosi Phase II, Ketu
3. Adeyomoye Street, Orile-Ikosi
4. Ogunkoya Street, Orile-Ikosi
5. Olabisi Balogun Street, Orile-Ikosi
6. Atinmo Street, Orile-Ikosi
The event was marked by excitement among community members, traditional leaders, and political stakeholders who praised the council boss for her unwavering dedication to transforming the LCDA through strategic infrastructural investments.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Princess Bada emphasized the importance of good road networks in enhancing mobility, boosting local businesses, and improving the quality of life for residents.
“This administration is determined to continue delivering on our promise of sustainable development. These roads are more than just physical infrastructure—they are pathways to economic empowerment, safety, and community pride,” she said.
She also reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to ensuring that no community within Ikosi-Isheri LCDA is left behind in the ongoing developmental drive.x
The former Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman and Honourable Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment; Hon. Chief Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke in her goodwill message commended the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri for the huge infrastructural transformation embedded in the community for the benefit of the good people Ikos-Isheri while she enjoined the residents to own and guide the infrastructure jealously.
“No doubt about the fact that Samiat has been using her sense and the love she has for the community to uplift her community even before the financial autonomy and I’m sure when the financial autonomy finally comes, the people of Ikosi-Isheri will feel the impact of her administration more with the acronyms that “My heart is where my community is” and I can confirm that with what I have seen here today. She echoed.
Meanwhile, Chief Arobieke in her closing remarks congratulated the people of Ikosi-Isheri for having Mayoress Samiat Abolanle Bada as their council chairman while she urged them further give her all the necessary support needed for her second term in office.
Several dignitaries, including community leaders, councillors, and representatives of various resident associations, joined Princess Bada on the tour. They lauded her for the visible transformation across the LCDA and pledged their continued support for her administration.
Residents of the commissioned streets expressed gratitude and relief, noting that the newly tarred and well-drained roads would bring an end to years of discomfort, especially during the rainy season.
The commissioning tour is expected to continue with more projects lined up for inauguration in the coming days.
