Magodo, Lagos – It was a moment of reflection and gratitude as the Executive Chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu political ‘Dullar’ and his siblings (Senator Hamed Ogembe, Sani Ogembe, Omotanwa Salau Ogembe and Amoda Yusuf Ogembe) gathered with family, friends, and well-wishers to commemorate the 3rd-year remembrance anniversary of their beloved mother, Alhaja Olushola Wulemot Lawal who died at the age of 72.
The event, held in her Magodo residence was marked with prayers, tributes, and a celebration of the late matriarch’s enduring legacy. Family members and associates took turns to eulogize her, recalling her virtues of kindness, dedication, and unwavering support for her children and the community at large.
In his address, ‘Dullar’ expressed deep emotions while reminiscing about his mother’s impact on his life and the values she instilled in her children. He noted that though, she was no longer physically present, her teachings and legacy continued to guide and inspire them.
In the same vein, one of the guests, and Supervisor for Health; Hon. Ladi Omifare described the late Alhaja Olushola Wulemot as dedicated entrepreneur and wonderful mother whose impact on her children and those around cannot be overemphasized.
“Within the short period that I got to know her, she has been a nice woman who take pleasure in giving most especially the less privilege. I pray to God to grant her eternal rest”.
Similarly, the President of Somolu APC Apex Women leader; Hon. Chief Mrs. Bosede Ogunlaja in her remarks said that the late Food and Drinks entrepreneur who has a large heart and never discriminate. A woman of honour who care and love people around her irrespective of their background or colour.
“I can a lot about the woman, I knew her as far back as 1993 when I was the Supervisor for Agric at Somolu local government. She’s a very kindhearted person and got a very large heart that accommodate everybody. The Muslim clerics have said a lot about her. She doesn’t discriminate, she care and love people around her irrespective of their background or colour”.
Additionally, the SA to the Council Chairman on Health; Hon. Koya Olayinka-Sodipe in his submission recounted that the late mother Hon. Dullar was a wonderful woman stressing that everything around her testify to that. The positive impact on her children and other people around her was topnotch.
“The woman has not only impacted on her biological children but all other people around her; families, friends like that and you can see today, in her remembrance, everybody is here and that’s to let you know that she’s good woman. It’s my prayer that she rest eternally in the bosom of our Lord”.
Akinola Olumide, the Supervisor for Chieftaincy Affairs, Somolu local government stated that the deceased, Alhaja Olushola Wulemot Lawal was quite amiable and good to everyone when she was alive. She lived a good life and leave behind a good legacy for the children.
“Today marked the 3rd year that we lost the beloved mother of the Executive Chairman of Somolu local government; Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’; Alhaja Olushola Wulemot Lawal. was quite amiable and good to everyone when she was alive. She lived a good life and leave behind a good legacy for the children and that’s why we’re celebrating her today”.
The remembrance gathering also saw the presence of political associates, community leaders, and religious figures who joined in prayers for the repose of her soul. Many described her as a woman of integrity and a pillar of strength whose influence extended beyond her immediate family.
As part of the remembrance activities, the family engaged in charitable deeds, including donations to the less privileged, emphasizing their late mother’s commitment to humanity. The event concluded with a thanksgiving session, where attendees celebrated her life with songs, testimonies, and heartfelt prayers.
The anniversary was not just a moment to mourn but an opportunity to honour and uphold the values she cherished, ensuring that her legacy of love, service, and generosity lives on.
