…applauds the council helmsman for transforming Somolu into a sort-after commercial hub centre
In a remarkable display of generosity and commitment to community welfare, one of the Somolu All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirants, Hon. Femi Onisaruti, distributed food packs to 2,000 residents on Friday, February 21, 2025.
The event, which took place at the newly constructed Somolu Local Government Administrative Complex, situated at Onafowokan Street, Somolu, Lagos was a spectacle of appreciation and excitement as beneficiaries gathered in large numbers to receive the much-needed support. Hon. Onisaruti, widely known for his philanthropic gestures, reaffirmed his dedication to alleviating hardship in the community.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Onisaruti emphasized that the initiative was born out of his unwavering commitment to the well-being of Somolu residents. He noted that the economic challenges faced by many households necessitated urgent intervention and that he was willing to play his part which he sees as a way of giving back to the community.
“My passion has always been about the people, and I believe that true leadership is about service. This initiative is not just about giving food packs; it is about showing love, support, and solidarity with our people in these trying times,” Onisaruti stated.
The beneficiaries, drawn from various parts of the local government, expressed their profound gratitude for the timely assistance. Many commended Onisaruti’s dedication and prayed for his success in his political aspirations.
Mrs. Afolake Abimbola, one of the beneficiaries, lauded the initiative, stating, “This is a big relief for me and my family. It is rare to see politicians who truly care about the welfare of the people. Hon. Onisaruti has demonstrated that he is one of the few who genuinely have our interests at heart.”
Another recipient, Mr. Segun Adewale, described the event as a testament to Onisaruti’s compassion. “Leadership is about impact, and today, we have seen firsthand what it means to care for the people. We are hopeful that he will do even more if given the opportunity,” he remarked.
Students were not left out of his largesse as they were also given bags and writing materials which he said would not only ease the burden on their parents but boost their morals as far as their academic pursuits are concerned.
The well-organized distribution exercise was conducted seamlessly, with volunteers ensuring that the process was smooth and devoid of any disorder. Party leaders, community elders, and youth representatives were also present to witness the occasion, further cementing Onisaruti’s influence and appeal within the community.
Amidst the commendation, Hon. Femi Onisaruti took a moment to applaud the efforts of the current Somolu Local Government Chairman, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu, popularly known as ‘Dullar,’ for his remarkable transformation of the local government. He praised Dullar’s leadership and developmental strides, acknowledging his dedication to the progress and upliftment of Somolu.
