Some of the Football stakeholders in the country have called out Napoli forward and CAF Player of the Year winner, Victor Osimhen over a recent outburst where he insulted former Nigeria International and the Coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles, Finidi George.
“Watching this video just makes me cringe. This video of Osimhen bashing Finidi. Did Osimhen verify the accusations? Are those words true from Finidi? Why does Osimhen feel the best way to handle this is to come on live to bash a Nigerian legend who was your coach? He will also retire someday. Two years ago it was Ikpeba today Finidi. You can disagree with your coach but never feel you can disrespect them”.
“The same road you are on they went through it some even did more. You will never play football forever, there are better ways to debunk those allegations or accusations but this shows a terrible side of Osimhen. I love him as a player and the sacrifice for Nigeria but talent without attitude doesn’t make sense”.
“In the end, it has been confirmed that the news or allegations Osimhen claimed Finidi made were false from a blog that posted the fake news. So, you see why I said Osimhen went overboard!”.
“If not for CAF player of the year, Osimhen has not achieved half of what Finidi has achieved (2x World Cup, 1994 AFCON winner, eight major trophies with Ajax including three Dutch League titles, two Dutch Super cups, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Champions League, and the Intercontinental Cup”.
In his submission, a veteran sports Journalist, Bimbo Adeola also condemned Osimhen’s claim over the allegation stating that Osimhen should have confirmed the claim/report before taking any step rather than doing otherwise noting that these are football legends who have done so much for the country and deserve respect from him and not an insult.
He went further, “First it was Victor Ikpeba, now Finidi George (forget his Super Eagles misadventure) for an unsubstantiated claim/report. These are legends (yes, they put our country on the map) of Nigerian football that Victor Osimhen thoroughly insulted, and some people are applauding him. I have no words…C’mon!
Meanwhile, Osimhen was seen in the video ranting that Finidi said he would not beg him to play for his country and should not blame him for his woes to the extent of cursing Nigerians. Some have called for his ban from playing for the Super Eagles to serve as a deterrent for others who might want to thread the same part while others said he should be pardoned.
