It’s a new dawn for the residents of Olunkemi street in Bariga LCDA of the state as the council chairman, Hon. Alabi Kolade David commenced the construction of the drainage and the Olorunkemi road linking the Igi-Olugbin and Bariga ends of the roads.
Speaking to Somolu News correspondent, the Baale of the Owode/Ajose community, High Chief Olusegun Aromire Ajose hinted that the construction of the drainages and the road was long overdue noting that such exemplary gesture of the council boss will bring about further development in the area.
He said, “The year-long abandoned street has remained one major road that made human and vehicular movement around the area inaccessible with potholes scattered from the beginning to the end of the road.” He narrated.
“But with the new development, the residents will heave a sigh of relief and put the agonies of the bad road behind them.”
The traditional chief, however, admonished the residents to cooperate with the contractor in order to achieve the needed result while the construction last.
Similarly, one of the traders who has a shop along the road, Mrs. Felicia Abiola Oladejo also heaped praises on Hon. Alabi-led administration, saying it was a good thing the third tiers of government in the state remember the street for good after a long wait noting that she won’t have to lament about floods and the bad drainages anytime it rains.
“Honestly, I have nothing to say than to thank Mr. Transformer for making the right move to transform our street after a long wait which will no doubt have a positive impact on the inhabitant of Olorunkemi and its environs with stress-free entry and exit,” she stated.
The construction of the road is expected last for one year according to a statement from one of the community leaders.
