Owolabi ‘Ajimomuya’ Oseni
Earlier yesterday the 21st of November, 2022, the Hon. Kolade David Alabi-led Conference of 57 Council Chairmen of the Local Councils in Lagos State paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Mushin Consistency 1, Hon. Abdul-Sobur Olawale ‘Omiti’.
Anchoring the condolence visit was the Council Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, in his words “the deceased was a loyal party leader who found joy in making people happy within Mushin and beyond.
Speaking to the widow and children, Hon. Kolade David Alabi, admonished the family to remain steadfast in Almighty God as He is the best comforter.
Hon. Kolade David Alabi who was flanked by Council Chairmen Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu (Somolu) and Hon. Ahmed Apatira (Itire-Ikate), the ALGON President said the Conference57 Chairmen and APC are firmly with the family in the time of their grief and beyond.
A short Islamic sermon was given by the Council Chairman of Odi-Olowo-Ojuwoye who also doubled as the scribe of Conference57, Hon. Rasaq Ajala. According to Ajala and Hon. Rashidat Omolola Essien (Council Chairman of Lagos Mainland LG), the widow should continue to remain strong while ensuring that she and the children excelled and prayed for their father and her late husband.
Recall that Hon. Abdul-Sobur Olawale ‘Omiti’, until his death last week in Jos, was the Chairman of Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Governments. Omititi who was aged 60, slumped and died during the official flag-off of the APC Presidential campaign, Tinubu-Shettima, 2023, in Jos, Plateau State on Tuesday.
Olawale’s last public appearance was the Friday before his death when he played timely in a soccer match to mark the 50th birthday celebration of the Speaker, state House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, at the assembly playing ground where kept the goal post as a goalkeeper.
He died last week Tuesday, Setonji David, the chairperson of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Strategy and Security said, in a statement.
“It is with deep sadness, a sense of loss, and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, Hon. Abdulsobur Olayiwola Olawale (alias OMITITI) representing Mushin Constituency 02 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, passed on today,” Mr. David said.
“Hon. Olawale was until his untimely demise the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Community Relations, a second-term lawmaker, left us unexpectedly and threw the whole House into mourning.
“This death really hit us below the belt. We will all miss him more than words can express. We urge you to join us in prayers for his family at this time.”
The condolence register at the deceased residence was signed by Hon. Kolade David Alabi on behalf of the Conference57 Chairmen as was signed earlier on Sunday by the APC Presidential flag-bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.
Other Council Chairmen, Hon. Funmilayo Akande-Muhammed (Apapa-Iganmu), Hon. Princess Rashidat Abiodun Adu (Iru/VI), Hon. Princess Olabisi Adebajo (Mosan-Okunola), Bldr Adeola Banjo (Ikorodu North), Hon. Oladotun Olakanle (Onigbongbo), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo (Ijede), Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju (Ikorodu West), Hon. Muibi Alade Folawiyo (Lagos Island East) and Hon. Idowu Sebanjo (Apapa) among others.
