It was a dark and shocking Monday for the friends, families, and neighbours of the Managing Director of Veracruz Event and Catering, Mrs. Vera Ayoade as she was allegedly attacked by an assailant who stabbed her 7 times in the back for refusing to grant his financial request.
The incident which occur at about 1: 00 pm on Monday afternoon around the Oredola canal in the Bariga area of the state was said to have attracted a passerby who rushed to the scene of the crime to rescue the victim.
Mrs. Ayoade was reported to have lost a lot of blood before she was being rushed to Military Hospital at Yaba for urgent medical attention.
Recalling the incident, the victim said she was about to make her way into the Oredola gate to attend to some vital issues at her shop at Olorunkemi in Bariga when she was accosted by the said teenage boy who requested she offers him financial assistance but immediately told him she wasn’t having any money on her at that moment but to her utter dismay, started stabbing her with a broken bottle.
“It was like a film, I was about to make my way into Oredola gate close to the canal to attend to some vital issues at my shop only to be attacked with a broken bottle by a young boy who had earlier made a financial request which I turned down due to financial constraint.”
She continued, “Immediately I made my intention known to him, I turned to continue my journey to my shop as planned not knowing he was trailing me. I only noticed I have been clubbed severally on my back with my clothes drenched with blood and before I could turn to revolt, I was already weak.”
“I only managed to crawl to a safe place to alert the neighbours who called my husband and was later rushed to the hospital.” she narrated.
Efforts to apprehend the culprit at the crime scene proved abortive as he fled the scene before they could get hold of him and disappeared into thin air without a trace.
Meanwhile, the unfortunate incident has been reported at the Bariga Police Station for further investigation.
