I’ll not sacrifice my childhood friends and brothers for political interest-Niyi Osibemekun

Somolu born renowned Chartered Accountant cum politician, Hon. Niyi Osibemekun (Jackal) FCA has vowed to uphold the principles that bind wonderful friendship and brotherhood, especially his childhood friends and brothers with whom he grew up in the Somolu community.

The former Chief Accountant of Panalpina West Africa and the incumbent Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Somolu/Bariga revealed this while speaking to Somolu news online on his birthday with crème de la crème in attendance.

He stressed further, “Like I always tell people around me, I was born in Somolu, educates in Somolu, grew up in Somolu with a lot of Somolu friends. I will not sacrifice these youthful friends, my partners in everything; in kite flying, in fish catching and Baba Alaro swimming and the rest of them for any political interest, party or group.” he said

“My friends will forever be my friends. We can have political differences which are normal, we can’t always be in the same place party.”

“On their birthday, I make sure that I attend and on my birthday, they make sure they come because it’s not a political gathering but a social gathering, and don’t forget, it’s an honour to have your friends around you.”

“When we want to do politics, we’ll do politics but my birthday is not about politics, it’s about joy, well-wishing, thanksgiving and friends honouring me; appreciating my life.”

“Who am I going to stop from coming to my house because we are not in the same party?”. Is it Willy that we’re together during our Boys Scout days when we were younger or is it Olowo Rotimi that we played football together especially with my younger brother and never ceased to come to my house when we were much younger and always recognize me as a big brother?”.

“Olowo Rotimi was always around, even when I was in Port Harcourt in the early days of his life. So, tell me who am going to stop from coming or attending my social gathering?”. He queried

He, however, enjoined the youths to understand that there’s always life, politics is about life but there’s life itself.

“You have your life to live and friends to make. Tomorrow, you can be in the same party, and the next day, you may find yourself in a different party but tour friendship must remain intact.”

“Don’t sacrifice your friendships for political interest. The party will come and go and don’t forget politics is about monitoring and surviving one’s interest. The bottom line is that the two of you must learn to be successful men.” he asserted.
