It was a dark Saturday fortnight ago for the shop owner and a popular bar, AY Cool Spot Bar (Iyaniwura) at Abimbola Street via Abiodun Street in the Somolu area of Lagos as robbers laid siege and carted away goods worth hundreds of thousands of Naira in the process.
According to an eyewitness account, the robbers were said to have come in their numbers around 2 am on Saturday and ransacked the bar leaving behind emptied and ravaged scenes.
The terrified owner of the bar, Mrs Oyelayo Dorcas Afolabi who described the incident as shocking and painful considering how she has been struggling to make ends meet coupled with the harsh economic condition of the nation due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has ravaged the country and the world at large in the recent times.
“Honestly, it’s disheartening considering the fact that I just got supplied on Friday and within the space of 10 hours, the goods are gone. It’s really not funny because I still don’t believe this happened to me”. she narrated
In a similar situation, a shop at Aina Street, Bariga which is just a few meters away from the spot bar was also raided with goods valued at Hundreds of Naira looted.
Incidentally, the newly opened looted shop in Bariga belongs to the wife of Bariga big boy popularly known as Ayara.
It’s however, not clear if the operations were carried out by the same burglars as investigations are currently ongoing to unravel the mystery surrounding situation and as well brought the perpetrators to book.
