COVID-19: ITTF extends suspension of all events and activities till the end of July 2020

The world governing body in charge of Table Tennis, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has further extended the current period of suspension of all ITTF events and activities until the end of July 2020 as the situation is being monitored closely for an eventual restart of ITTF events in August 2020.

According to the ITTF Executive Committee who met on Friday 1st May 2020 upon receiving a comprehensive updated report from the COVID-19 Task Force, which was set up to monitor the global situation closely said all World Veterans Tour (WVT) and Table Tennis X (TTX) events have been cancelled for the remainder of 2020 while a decision about the status of the Hana Bank 2020 World Team Table Tennis Championships will be made in June 2020.

Meanwhile, ITTF management has been asked to find ways to reduce operating costs overall, including the need for there to be some HR restructure in order to manage 2020 financial realities.

The ITTF Executive Committee will meet again on 2nd June 2020 and the ITTF will continue to provide further updates on all upcoming decisions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
