The spate of recent violence, vandalisation and the defiance of hoodlums to yield to police warnings is becoming alarming in our society.
Over the years, particularly recently, the rate of communal disturbance, intimidation of innocent people and forcefully catering away with their valuables by a notorious gang has become a daily occurrence. This guy seems coordinated and their module Operandi follows the same pattern; intimidating an unsuspected member of the society, attacking and causing mayhem, issuing an ultimatum to a perceived ‘enemy’ to vacate their homes which have forced many people to run for their lives and seek refuge at.
It was however noted that these thugs wouldn’t have become notorious gang without the help of a godfather who is giving them a cover. In fact, it has been noted that one of their godfathers Chief Adio Olawale is using them to foment trouble and persecute anybody that falls to his bad book.
“The rate at which these hoodlums operate and torment people is very sickening. They lived off the people in the society once they identify you’re well off. They pick their targets and demand for money from them with an ultimatum of dire consequence if the person refused to oblige to their demand.
Their antecedent is not unconnected to their relationship with one Chief Adio Olawale who has been giving them backup in exchange of using them to intimidate and sometimes exterminate his business associate and political opponent” says a commentator who prefers to be anonymous.
Another commenter says “It’s one to fear these nefarious boys it’s another to bow to their godfather Chief Adio Olawale because without him these guys wouldn’t have been this strong. Chief Olawale uses these boys to perpetrate evils, he use them to intimidate anybody that has disagreement with him, which has forced many of his victim to run away or sometimes leave the country all together because wherever they run to as long as within the country the chief, in connivance with his allies across the country, will sure trace the person. This is worrisome and it’s a shame our government hasn’t been able to act swiftly to tame the man and his irks”.
Security of lives and properties should be the topmost priority of any serious government after the provision of basic amenity. The unemployment index and non-existential or abandoning of vocational training centres should be revived to bring back youth to productivity level and the government should entrench the security agencies to enable them effectively combat the scourge and menace of this hoodlums. Further, no individual should be above the law, each citizen must be held accountable for their deeds and government must ensure nobody rise to the level of ‘above the law’
