Mayor Ashimi, Councillor Adelaja receive historic vote of confidence from Ward B APC family in Somolu

A historic first anniversary in office resonated across households in Somolu as Mayor Lateef Ashimi and Councillor Sinat Omolara Adelaja-Elegushi received unanimous votes of confidence from Ward B (Bashua East & West) Apex leaders and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),:alongside exemplary leadership awards for their noteworthy commitment to the community.

Leading the commendations were Primate Abraham Joshua, Chief Samuel Onanuga (Sir Shey), Chief Ajibade Ajayi, and Alhaji Saka Adedoyin, alongside Alhaji Dauda Olasheu (Anchor & former Lagos State SSA) and Mr. Lukman Ademola (Ward B Party Chairman). They took turns praising their son and daughter for redefining credible leadership in their domain through outstanding performance, expressing satisfaction with their contributions to society that shaped their paths to office.

Apostle Peter Oyewusi, Apex APC Chairman for Somolu Federal Constituency, in his remarks, described Mayor Ashimi as a trustworthy, obedient, and loyal stalwart of the progressive fold who prioritises the welfare of the people. Reaffirming his eight-year tenure with God’s blessings, he joined other stakeholders in praising Chairman Emeritus, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu (Dullar), for mentoring a capable successor to serve the community effectively.

Speaking on behalf of Council Officials, Vice Chairman: Hon. Taiwo Ojomu applauded the Mayor’s dedication to service – notably his special care for children, clear vision for educational development, and commitment to transforming Somolu into a Renewed Hope powerhouse. On behalf of Ward B Local Government staff, Hon. Sunday Adelaja (Supervisor for Health) outlined the administration’s achievements across sectors, including 35 road reconstruction projects, such as the meeting venue on Sanusi Street.

Additionally, Rt. Hon. Tunde James Oyeyiola (Leader of the House) led a prayer from the legislative arm, highlighting the Mayor’s magnanimity, devotion, and reliability – exceptional qualities commended recently by the Southwest Chairmen of the Councillors’ Forum of Nigeria. In the presence of Councillor Alimat Jolaosho (Ward F), he praised Hon. Adelaja-Elegushi as a dedicated Chief Whip and hardworking lawmaker whose performance in the House reflects superb representation.

In response, Mayor Ashimi thanked all Somolu leaders and attendees for their overwhelming support, presenting a comprehensive scorecard spanning infrastructure, education, environmental interventions, welfare, and healthcare initiatives. Key highlights included a ₦3 million monthly special fund at the General Hospital for vulnerable residents, the 11th edition of ‘Ounje Arugbo’, and ₦150 million in financial grants to local traders and young entrepreneurs.

He encouraged residents to foster unity across political lines, work together for community progress, and ensure they obtain their voter cards ahead of the 2027 general elections, aiming for landslide victories for the APC flagbearers.

The gathering was also attended by Special Advisers: Hon. Adekunle Ekiyemi (Education), Hon. Waheed Bello (Agriculture) and Hon. Abiodun Anjorin (Protocol), alongside Mr Olusada Segun Kayode (PA to Chairman), Ita-Edet Samuel (ACPS), Team LA members, and the Ojuri Base Group. Representatives from other Supervisors, Party executives, Women’s wing, the CDC, and CDAs were also present to deliver positive feedback on the celebrated duo.
