The partnership continues a relationship that began in 2022, when Panagyurishte hosted its first WTT Feeder Series event with the support of Asarel. Since then, Panagyurishte has held a steady place on the WTT calendar, building its reputation as a reliable, passionate and distinctive stop for international table tennis.
In 2026, Panagyurishte takes the next step. For the first time, the city will host a WTT Contender event, bringing a higher tier of WTT Series action to Bulgaria and strengthening its position within the global table tennis pathway.
Asarel’s return as Presenting Partner gives the event a powerful local foundation. A company deeply rooted in Panagyurishte, Asarel-Medet JSC is one of Bulgaria’s leading names in copper mining and processing, with a footprint that reaches far beyond industry. Through long-term investment in employment, infrastructure, healthcare, culture and sport, Asarel has become part of the city’s identity and one of the driving forces behind its development.
That connection makes WTT Contender Panagyurishte 2026 a partnership with real local weight. From the energy beneath the land to the energy inside the arena, Asarel’s support reflects a city built on hard work, ambition and belief in what it can bring to the world stage.
As a WTT Contender event, WTT Contender Panagyurishte 2026 will bring established international players and rising names into direct competition for ranking points, prize money and momentum on the WTT Series. With Asarel once again at the centre of that story, WTT Contender Panagyurishte 2026 is set to open a new chapter for Bulgaria on the international table tennis map.
WTT Contender Panagyurishte 2026 Presented by Asarel will take place from 8 to 13 September at the Arena Asarel.
