Jolaosho’s emergence followed a keenly contested party primary election conducted under the supervision of APC leaders and electoral officials, with party faithful and stakeholders expressing confidence in her ability to represent the interests of the ward effectively.
The exercise, which was described as peaceful, transparent and credible, witnessed the participation of party delegates and members who turned out in large numbers to exercise their democratic rights. At the end of the voting process, Hon. Kehinde Alimat Jolaosho secured the mandate of the party, defeating other aspirants to clinch the coveted ticket.
Speaking shortly after her emergence, the APC flagbearer expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in her. She pledged to justify the trust placed in her by providing quality representation and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of Ward F.
According to her, the victory belongs not only to her but to the entire people of Ward F who are yearning for purposeful leadership and accelerated development.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled by the support shown to me by party members and stakeholders. This victory is a collective one, and I assure everyone that I will work tirelessly to promote the welfare of our people, facilitate development projects and maintain close contact with residents,” she said.
Jolaosho further called on all party members to close ranks and work together to ensure APC records a landslide victory in the forthcoming bye-election and the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, the Council Chairman, prominent APC leaders and stakeholders in Somolu have congratulated the candidate on her emergence, describing her as a grassroots politician with a proven track record of commitment to community development and party growth.
They urged party members to remain united and mobilise support across the ward, stressing that the bye-election presents another opportunity for the APC to consolidate its dominance in Somolu politics.
Residents and supporters who spoke with Somolu News also expressed optimism that Jolaosho’s candidacy would bring renewed hope and fresh ideas to local governance in Ward F. Many described her as accessible, compassionate and dedicated to public service.
Political observers believe that her emergence has further energised APC supporters in the ward, with campaigns expected to gather momentum in the coming days as parties intensify efforts ahead of the bye-election.
However, the by-election is aimed at filling the vacant seat created by the death of Hon. Oluwakemi Mayabikan, councillor representing Ward F (Balulaiye/Fola-Agoro), elected during the July 2025 local government election. Mayabikan died on September 21, 2025, just 56 days after her inauguration as a member of the Somolu 10th Legislative Arm of Somolu Local Government.
While preparations continue, stakeholders have called for a peaceful and issue-based campaign, urging all contestants and their supporters to conduct themselves responsibly and uphold democratic values throughout the electoral process.
With her emergence as the APC standard-bearer, Hon. Kehinde Alimat Jolaosho now carries the party’s hopes into the bye-election, where she will seek the mandate of Ward F residents to represent them at the Somolu Local Government Legislative Council.
