The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has been honoured by stakeholders of the Israel Oyekan axis in Ward F in recognition of his administration’s commitment to road infrastructure development within the area.
The honour was bestowed earlier today during a courtesy visit by the stakeholders, led by Mrs Modupe Ola Atewologun, following the successful reconstruction of key roads in the Israel Oyekan community. The delegation expressed profound appreciation for the intervention, describing the project as a long-awaited relief that has significantly improved accessibility, safety, and the overall quality of life for residents.
Speaking during the visit, Mrs Atewologun commended the council chairman for what she described as responsive and people-oriented leadership, noting that the newly reconstructed roads have eased vehicular movement, reduced flooding challenges, and boosted economic activities in the neighbourhood. She said the gesture reflects the administration’s resolve to deliver dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
In his response, Hon. Ashimi thanked the stakeholders for the honour and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to inclusive development across all wards in Somolu.
He stressed that infrastructural development remains a top priority of his government, adding that the council will continue to engage community leaders and residents to ensure that projects align with their most pressing needs.
The meeting also featured strategic discussions on additional infrastructural and environmental interventions required in the surrounding axis, including drainage improvement, environmental sanitation, and road maintenance.
The Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Hassan Ojomu, who was present at the engagement, pledged the council’s readiness to collaborate with community stakeholders to sustain development and promote a cleaner, safer environment.
Residents and stakeholders at the meeting described the engagement as a testament to effective grassroots governance, urging the council to sustain the tempo of development initiatives across the Somolu Local Government Area.
