In a clear demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus vision of Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Ikosi–Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Wednesday, 5th of November, 2025, commissioned four newly constructed roads in Folawiyo Estate.
The roads – Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada Street, Solomon Niran Aluko Street, Bello Folawiyo Street, and Yetunde Owoseni Street – were inaugurated by the Mayoress of Ikos-Isheri as part of the council’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and grassroots development.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Oluomo of Kosofe-land reaffirmed that the projects symbolise “Renewed Hope in action” and reflect the council’s dedication to purposeful governance that directly improves lives and restores public confidence.
“Today is not just about roads – it is about a promise kept to the people who trusted us. Here in Ikosi-Isheri, we are not watching from the sidelines — we are part of the national transformation story”. The Chairman said.
According to her, the roads were constructed in record time after residents of Folawiyo Estate appealed for better internal access routes.
“We didn’t delay; we acted immediately. In one decisive move, we commenced all four roads at once, and in record time, we delivered them back-to-back. That is what Renewed Hope looks like at the grassroots – promises made, promises delivered”. She added.
Each of the newly commissioned roads serves a distinct purpose within the estate – improving access, connectivity, and economic activity:
– Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada Street now serves as the estate’s main artery, enhancing access and security.
– Solomon Niran Aluko Street links adjoining communities, fostering commerce and mobility.
– Bello Folawiyo Street supports small-scale businesses and raises property values through improved drainage and finishing.
– Yetunde Owoseni Street mitigates flooding and enhances night-time safety for residents and students.
The Yeye-shewa of Ilara Kingdom noted that the social and economic benefits of the projects are already evident, citing easier school runs, safer commutes, and smoother business operations within the community.
She commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his leadership through the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda, which emphasises infrastructure that directly impacts citizens.
“Here in Ikosi-Isheri, we are following that leadership model – one that prioritises results over rhetoric”. She said.
Expressing appreciation to the residents of Folawiyo Estate, the Chairman assured them of continued development across all communities in the LCDA.
“You spoke, and we listened. You asked, and we delivered. Our Renewed Chapter has only just started. As long as I remain your Chairman, governance will continue to reach every home, every street, and every heart”. She affirmed.
With the completion of these four roads, the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA has reinforced its reputation for responsive governance and its commitment to the vision of Renewed Hope – for the people, by the people, and with the people.
