In a continued effort to ensure that residents of Somolu Local Government Area enjoy the full dividends of democracy, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, recently embarked on an extensive inspection tour of several ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects within the council area.
Hon. Ashimi, who was accompanied by his Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Ojomu, and some members of his cabinet, visited a number of key project sites to assess the progress and quality of work being carried out. The inspection covered major streets such as Durosinmi Street, Boyle Street, Ojo Square, and Ibukunolu Street, all of which are currently undergoing reconstruction as part of the council’s infrastructure renewal programme.
Speaking during the inspection, the chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the living standards of residents through the provision of durable infrastructure and responsive governance. He emphasized that the ongoing road projects were designed to enhance mobility, ease traffic flow, and promote economic activities across the local government.
According to him, “Our administration is determined to deliver people-oriented projects that will have a direct impact on the daily lives of our citizens. We are not only building roads; we are building a stronger, more connected Somolu.”
In their remarks, some of the community leaders commended the council boss for his proactive leadership and for bringing governance closer to the people. They also expressed optimism that the ongoing projects, once completed, would significantly boost social and economic activities in the area.
The inspection tour, which forms part of Hon. Ashimi’s regular monitoring exercise, is expected to ensure that contractors adhere strictly to quality standards and complete the projects within the stipulated time.
With visible signs of progress across the local government, residents of Somolu are hopeful that these developmental strides will translate into a more livable and prosperous community.
