Somolu Local Government has been thrown into mourning following the death of a respected political figure, Hon. Oluwasegun Fehintola, who passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the age of 60, after a protracted battle with illness.
The Ijebu-born political stalwart, Hon. Fehintola was widely regarded as a fine gentleman and committed public servant whose political career was marked by loyalty, humility, and an unwavering dedication to the progress of his community.
He served as councillor representing Ward E (1999-2002) and later served as the leader of the House between 2004-2007 during the administration of former Somolu Council Chairman, Hon. Ademorin Aliu Kuye — now the Federal House of Representatives member representing Somolu Constituency in the Green Chamber.
During his tenure as Leader of the House, Fehintola was known for his firm grasp of legislative matters, bridge-building ability, and steadfast commitment to grassroots development.
Party members and political associates have described him as a dedicated and loyal party faithful who played a pivotal role in advancing the political stability of Somolu and contributing to the overall development of Lagos State.
