In a significant boost to education in Somolu, the council chairman; Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu, popularly known as Dullar, has announced a full scholarship programme for students who score 300 and above in the upcoming 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Chairman, known for his commitment to youth development, unveiled the scholarship scheme during a community education empowerment programme where he emphasized the importance of supporting bright students who may lack the financial means to pursue higher education.
To further ease the burden on prospective candidates, he also distributed free JAMB forms to indigent students, giving them the opportunity to sit for the crucial examination without financial constraints. Beneficiaries of the initiative expressed their gratitude, describing the gesture as a life-changing opportunity.
Similarly, Rihannat Adesegun in her remarks said that it was a great opportunity her and other beneficiaries to have been part of the programme while she prayed to God to replenish his purse in million fold.
Meanwhile, the SA to the Executive Chairman on Education; Hon. Adesina Adeeso described the free JAMB form initiative as a norm put together to motivate and support the higher institution bound students in Somolu community.
Parents and community leaders also lauded the initiative, acknowledging Dullar’s unwavering commitment to educational development in Somolu. They called on other well-meaning individuals and government agencies to emulate his efforts in fostering academic excellence.
