As part of the global World Clean Up Day billed for September 26, 2024, the council chairman of Somolu local government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ has reinstated his administration’s commitment towards ensuring much is achieved as far as the World Clean Up Day is concerned.
The Council Chief in a press statement issued and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Owolabi Ajimomuiya revealed that observing the day became necessary to give the community the cleanliness it deserves when and where necessary.
He went further, “Like we always do, we are availing ourselves of the ample opportunity by organizing a major cleanup effort in our community such as clean-up of market areas, major streets, and schools. And don’t the word of wisdom and popular saying that says cleanliness is next to Godliness. When your environment is clean you are far from contracting diseases”.
“The cleanup activities will involve clearing waste, cleaning drains, and tidying up public spaces within the Market. We encourage you to support the volunteers in improving the market’s cleanliness”.
“We understand that the market is your place of business, and we will ensure minimal disruption to your operations. We are committed to working together to create a healthier and more welcoming environment for everyone who visits or works in the market”.
“I’m making a passionate appeal to stakeholders to join us at this upcoming event that will take place in Somolu on September 26, 2024. All hands must be on deck and we need your cooperation and participation to achieve this millennium goal for our community to be habitable”.
“In Somolu, we will be joining millions of people across the globe to make a positive difference in our surroundings”. He claimed.
The World Clean Up Day is a worldwide initiative to address mismanaged waste and keep our environments clean.
