Somolu/Bariga Arewa leadership crisis: Lagos council chair wades in, approves the appointment of Ahmed Muhammed as Sarki Hausawa of Somolu LG

According to Somolu/Bariga Arewa APC chairman, Hon. Alhaji Yahaya Salawu who spoke with Somolu News during the protest hinted that the protest became necessary to prove their point against handing over the mantle of power to a wrong individual stating that they have chosen their authentic leader whom they trust and have given him their mandate to rule them.

“To be honest with you, we are not going to settle for less because we chose our Sarkin Hausawa; Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed eight months ago and certified by Lagos State Arewa Council of Chiefs; the governing body in the state, and for someone to now come from the back door to claim the mandate will not be acceptable”.

“Even though the new Sarkin Hausawa has been given a certificate by the Council of Chiefs, the Council chairman still needs to ratify him because we live in his community and he’s the no. 1 citizen of the community, the reason we’re here for justice to be done”.

Meanwhile, the council Chief, ‘Dullar’ in his submission commended the protesters for not taking the law into their hands but rather engaging in a peaceful protest to drive home their point adding that Somolu is known for her peaceful co existence and they should therefore, adhere strictly to the laid down rules after which he gave his assent by approving the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed as the Sarkin Hausawa of Somolu.

“My people, I acknowledge your presence and commend you for not taking the law into your own hands. I’m aware of your predicament as regards the leadership tussle, be rest assured that it will be ironed out amicably, in no time”.

“However, having thoroughly deliberated on the issue, I, AbdulHamed Salawu, the council Chairman of Somolu local government hereby approve the appointment of your candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed as the Sarkin Hausawa of Somolu Arewa community as certified by Lagos state Arewa Council of Chiefs”. He said.

In his response, the convener of the protest, Hon. Yahaya thanked the council chairman for doing justice to the leadership crisis that almost consumed the community while reiterating their commitment to supporting the Dullar-led administration and Somolu All Progressive Congress (APC) where and when necessary.

“On behalf of my family and the Somolu Arewa community, I want to specially appreciate Hon. AbdulHamed ‘Dullar’ for his unflinching support as we assure you of our unalloyed loyalty to your government and Somolu APC at large. You’re indeed a leader with exceptional traits. He concluded.
