The 2023 Somolu Progressive Snookers tourney wraps up as winners emerge.

The 2023 edition of the Snooker tournament has come to an exciting end as winners emerged in the weeks-long breathtaking sporting event that paraded about 32 participants which saw Wale Alana as the champion walking away with a N50,000 cash prize.

Ekundayo Victor who came second in the tournament got N30,000 for his effort while Adesina Tosin settled for the third position with a N20,000 cash prize.

Speaking after the presentation of the prizes, the organizer, Malik Matti said that the turnout of players and supporters at the event shows that the snooker tournament is becoming one of the sort after sporting in the community while reiterating that he will continue to work hard to create more room for improvement.

He added, “I’m so excited that the first edition was a success, the second edition too was a huge success and I will continue to work hard to maintain and sustain the tempo and as well use the game to fight against drug abuse and other social vices in the society”.

“Though we have fewer sponsors but I will not let this deter me but rather work more on the sponsorship to keep the game alive which will give us the opportunity to discover more talents, make the game more popular, and get rid of drug abuse in its entirety”.

The grand finale which came up at 35, Okesuna Street, Off Abiodun Bus Stop, Somolu, Lagos had the presence of the invited guests at the tournament which included top government functionaries, political stalwarts religious, and community leaders to mention but few.

The convener, Malik Matti, however, thanked the community leaders, the stakeholders, the players, and all others who had contributed in one way or the other to the huge success recorded in the editions while counting on their unflinching support for the upcoming edition.
