As a way of appreciating God for saving his life in a ghastly motor accident, one of the brightest and gallant officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Adewale Adetimirin on August 23rd, 2023 specifically three years after, stormed the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG), Ladipo-Mushin, Lagos alongside his family members, friends, and well-wishers who’re all in attendance to appreciate and celebrate God on his behalf.
The Somolu-born NSCDC officer while giving the testimony at the church described his being alive as one of the miracles of God stressing that no one believed the occupants of the vehicle would survive because of the extent of the accident and the damaged vehicle, the reason why he decided to thank Him for His mercy.
The officer narrated further that he and the members of his family were returning from an outing that took place in Shaki, Oyo state and he was so excited that they were almost getting to their destination when he noticed a strange force dragging the wheel with him but while struggling with the vehicle, a car hit him from behind and he lost control. The vehicle tumbled and somersaulted multiple times before plunging into an underground cave along Lagos Ibadan Expressway, Alapako area of Ogun state.
“On 23rd of August, 2020, at about 3:00 pm along Lagos Ibadan Expressway, Alapako area of Ogun state to be precise. We were returning from a journey when I noticed a strange force dragging the wheel with me but while I was struggling with the vehicle, a car hit me from behind and I lost control, the vehicle tumbled and somersaulted more than 14 times into an underground cave before it landed on my side”.
“It took the efforts of the travelling good Samaritans who stopped over to rescue us from the car wreckage and took us to Babcock University Hospital for urgent medical attention. My wife and other members of the family only had minor injuries while I had the most scary neck and spinal cord injury. I was later transferred to Igbobi Orthopaedic Hospital, Lagos where I was on admission until I was discharged in 2021. The injury which had me paralyzed and confined to a hospital bed for more than a year”.
“August 23rd, 2020 was a terrible day and bad experience that I will never forget in my life but will always be thankful for being alive. There were many who had less of the injury that I sustained but have passed away and forgotten. Glory be to God I’m back on my feet and I wish to appreciate my family, my Commandant, friends all others who had one way or the other supported me during my travail”. He posited.
“All I want to say is just to say thank you God because 3 years down the line your love, grace, mercy favour, and goodness are upon me and my household is still counting, exactly 3yrs today that you proved in my family that what God can not do does not exist, 3 days on oxygen in emergency ward seeing me through a 50/50 surgical operation on my neck in bed and on the wheelchair for almost a year. You changed the medical report that says I will never stand on my feet and walk again. Praise be your name!”.
“What more can I say to appreciate this great God who can reverse the irreversible, the unchangeable God, the unchangeable changer. Without any doubt, my people, you will all agree with me that I have hundreds, thousands, millions, billions, and trillions reason or reasons to come out and show my appreciation to my Maker, I’m also using this medium to appreciate everyone who came to rejoice and celebrate with my entire family. All we say is, ‘Thank you!”.
“Glory be to God I’m back on my feet and I wish to appreciate my Commandant, my family, friends, and most importantly, my wife and all others who had one way or the other supported me during my travail”. He posited.
The officer, however, urged all the tiers of government to make provision for a free healthcare delivery system that will not only reduce the death rate but lessen the financial burden on her citizens stressing that most patients meet their untimely deaths owing to lack of hospital equipment and finance to offset the hospital bill while appealing road users to obey traffic rules and drive with caution.
