In appreciation of government intervention in the area of health and well-being of its people, one of the community leaders in Somolu Federal Constituency, Alhaji Tella Inuolajin has poured encomium on the duo of local government chairmen; Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ and his counterpart from Bariga LCDA, Hon. Kolade Alabi David for facilitating the just concluding 4-days Oral Polio Immunization exercise put together to fight against unwanted polio virus in the Somolu/Bariga communities and Lagos state at large.
Alhaji Tella who’s one of the CDA Executives in the community said that the two council chairmen have been doing wonderfully well, hence, needed to be commended for the robust health programmed which was parts of Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu T.H.E.ME. Agenda noting that such initiation will go a long way in eradicating not only the polio virus but any other health challenges in the communities.
He added, “As a CDA Executive, we know the significant of this health programme to our younger generation and we’ll always do our possible best to ensure the programme of government and policies run without any hindrance especially the health programme because some of these mothers needs to be enlightened owing to archaic belief that the polio immunization renders children infertile when they get married later in life. It was a great task for us to change their mind”.
In the same vein, the Baale of Owode/Ajose Community in Bariga Local Council Development Area of the state, High Chief Aromire Ajose Adekunle has described the immunization exercise targeted at the children from 0-5 years as a wholesome aid that will give the mothers, children and the community at large worriless and healthier future laced with hope noting that government state and local level play a pivotal role in the lives of its citizens and that’s what chairmen; AbdulHamed and Alabi have been doing since they assumed office as the Chairmen of their respective council and therefore, they deserves all the accolades.
“The singular action of both chairmen takes me the Yoruba proverbial sayings that “Yin-ni-yin-ni, k’aba lese mii”, I give kudos to them for their unwavering support and wonderful impact in the health sector since they assumed office as the chairmen and therefore deserves all the accolades”. He posited.
Similarly, one of the beneficiaries of the immunization exercise, Mrs. Wuraola Ajibade commended the third tiers of government for initiating such a huge and impacfful health programme for the benefit of its citizens while urging mothers to always ensure they immunize their children against polio virus and take every other vaccines that’ll put their children in good shape where and when necessary.
“A responsible government will always attend to the needs of her citizens and with this health initiative, I think they’re doing a good job and I really commend them for this. I also want to use this medium to encourage mothers to always ensure they immunize their children against polio virus and take every other vaccines that’ll put their children in good shape, sound mind where and when necessary”. She stated.
Meanwhile, the immunization exercise was held simultaneously across the 20 local government and 37 LCDA of the state.
