Somolu Chairperson Hon. Omotanwa Salau inducted as Matron of Woman in Governance (WIG)

It was yet another feather to the cap of a woman of honour and epitome of womanhood as a political group named Women in Governance (WIG), Somolu/Bariga Chapter under auspices of Hajia Hafsat Kassim on Saturday 15th October 2022 conferred on the Chairperson of Somolu local government, Hon. Omotanwa Salau the ‘Matron’ of the group.

According to the group whose main focus is reaching out to strengthen women essentially for their general well-being, and development of the society as well as building and enhancing the leadership skill of women in the society saw the need to make Hon. Maryam Omotanwa its Matron in order to achieve its aims and objectives.

Reacting to the induction as the Matron of the group, Hon. Mrs. Omotanwa Salau thanked the group for finding her so worthy to be inducted as the Matron of the group described such a gesture as a noble one and assured them of her support when and where necessary noting that the role of women in governance should not be underestimated.

She said, “I find this induction as a noble gesture and I’m so delighted to be inducted as the Matron of the Association of Women in Governance (WIG), Somolu/Bariga Chapter. It’s a call to serve; impacting positively in the lives of women by enhancing their leadership skills in order to live up to the task in the society.” She stated.

However, Hon. Omotanwa admonished the women folk to validate their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ahead of the 2023 elections in order to vote for the right candidates when the elections start in earnest.
