A Somolu born Septuagenarian, Pa Rotimi Omotayo, and the father of African Table Tennis champion, Jide Omotayo has taken to his social media platform to celebrate his granddaughter, Morenikeji Jegede who came out victorious in a Student Union Presidential election in the University Prep Charter School, New York City, United States of America to represent students of all grades.
The elated Pa Rotimi described her granddaughter’s moves during the campaign as confident and courageous.
He stressed further, “We supported her during all her successful campaigns. With the on-stage public speech-making that she made in such a quintessential manner is worthy of sharing with other Youth here on this platform.
“The entire family ran the campaign in an unprecedented and dynamic manner. There were other subordinate posts in the organization, amazingly, my granddaughter was bold enough to run for the post of the President and came out victorious”.
100 candidates were reported to have contested for the post but as time went by, they were pruned to 25 candidates and from 25 to 10, from 10 to 5 as the campaign progressed. MORENIKEJI JEGEDE made the list of top 5 candidates.
“Because of her tenacity and dedication, she came home with outstanding great news as she was announced and pronounced “the President-Elect Of Student Government Organization at the University Prep Charter Middle School In New York City”.
“Morenikeji Jegede is now the President Of Student Government Organization of her school. As a Nigerian-American Student, this is unprecedented, and it has been imprinted in the footprints of Morenikeji Jegede’s life and academic career”.
“Morenikeji Jegede was born in Nigeria on May 29th. And officially that day is celebrated in Nigeria as Democracy Day before now. Even though now she is a USA Citizen By Naturalization. Indeed, she is a special breed and I am so delighted in my granddaughter, in whom I am well pleased.”
“This is a collective win for us as a family and I couldn’t wait to share this with you all as I celebrate my granddaughter. I watched her celebrating with the rest members of the family through video call”.
