It was a busy day yesterday for the Members of the Executive, Legislative and the management team of Somolu Local Government as they embarked on a massive inspection tour to the ongoing projects across the community.
The inspection tour which was led by the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu in the company of the Council-Manager, Otunba Lai Giwa also had in the inspection team Members of the Somolu Legislative Arm as led by Hon. Yomi Osunkoya.
Their first port of call was Ijebutedo Primary school where they took a holistic assessment of the school surrounding so as to pave way for the proposed plan on the land.
It would be recalled that the Council Mayor has expressed concern on the state of the school, stating that the area where the school was located (Ikorodu Road Highway) is not only distracting to study but also a dangerous zone for the Pre-Primary and Primary School pupils who are usually between the age of 0-12. He stated that plans are already been perfected to relocate them to a more conducive and safe environment for learning.
The team proceeded to the newly completed Obiwunmi street which was started a few weeks ago. The interlocked paving stone road will serve as an alternative route to link Fola Agoro for motorists heading to Akoka.
The Council Chairman, who expressed his satisfaction with the level of works done said the contractors had been mobilized to Ajose, Efon-Alaye and Olasode streets.
The Council Mayor, while inspecting Efon-Alaye street appealed to the residents to exercise patience and cooperate with the contractors to perform their works without hitches for the overall benefit of the community.
Also at the inspection tour with the Chairman were Mrs Mariam Omotanwa Salawu (Chairperson), Hon. Lateef Ashimi (SA on Education), Hon. Afolabi Olubiyi (SA on Special Duties), Prince Adekunle Quam-Eshinlokun (Procurement Officer) among others.
