One person sustained an injury while no fewer than seven others escaped unhurt when the Igbobi Orthopedic Hospital fence in the Somolu local government area of the state collapsed on Wednesday 12th April 2023 leaving Good Samaritan running helter-skelter to salvage the situation.
The incident which occurred around 1:30 pm left a lone young man in a Maroon colour Toyota Camry who was just a few steps away from the falling fence in bewilderment, thanking God for His mercy.
Narrating his ordeal, the young man who spoke to Somolu News Correspondent said that he was coming from the church situated at Apata and decided to go through the Igbobi area and link up with the road to his residence only for him to see the Orthopedic fence falling off when he was just a few meters away which prompted him to quickly swerved to his side, hitting the oncoming Keke NAPEP at the tail end that made the NAPEP hit the fence on the other side of the road.
He went further, “I was so lucky to have swerved off the side or else, it would have been a terrible disaster because the fence would have fallen on me but thank God that no death was recorded except the woman in front of the Keke NAPEP who had a minor injury”.
Speaking to one of the residents of the area who claimed anonymity shortly after the incident narrated further that it was fortunate that the incident did not happen when the students were returning home from school, it would have been disastrous because that was where usually pass each passing day.
“We should be thanking God that the students are on holiday, the incident did not happen when the students are returning home from school, it would have been disastrous because that was their route each passing day. God deliberately blocked them because this is the exact time they usually pass this area in their large numbers”. He stated.
Meanwhile, the woman who sustained the injury has been rushed to the hospital (orthopedic) for urgent medical attention while security agents have immediately been drafted to the scene to control the traffic for the free flow of vehicular movement in and out of the area. Somolu News gathered.
