The Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, MNIM, marked her first anniversary in office with a colourful celebration that reflected a year of purposeful leadership, impactful governance and unwavering commitment to the development of the council area.

The anniversary celebration, held amid pomp and pageantry, attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, religious leaders, youth groups, market associations, women organisations and residents who gathered to celebrate what many described as a remarkable year of transformational leadership.

The event served not only as a celebration of Princess Bada’s one year in office but also as an opportunity to highlight the numerous achievements recorded under her administration across critical sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, environmental sanitation, security and community development.

Speaking during the celebration, Princess Bada expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God, the people of Ikosi-Isheri, members of her executive council, legislative arm, traditional institutions and party leaders for believing in her vision and their unwavering support throughout her first year in office.

She noted that the successes recorded by her administration were made possible through collective efforts and the confidence reposed in her by the people, assuring residents that the journey towards a more prosperous and inclusive Ikosi-Isheri had only just begun.

“Our administration remains committed to delivering people-centred governance. Over the past one year, we have remained focused on one goal: to improve the lives of our people. We understood the assignment they gave us, and we have responded with actions. Every project we complete is another promise fulfilled. Every step we take is driven by our commitment to make Ikosi-Isheri better for everyone”.

“And as part of the event lined up for the anniversary, we’re commissioning Onibeju Street, Yomi Kuye Street, Anibaba Street, Remi Shofoluwe Street, Science Road, Emmanuel Street, Irepodun Street, and Owodunni Street, all completed with quality drainage systems and solar-powered street lights, not leaving out the commissioning of the Waste Transferring system.

That is why today is not just about celebrating one year in office; it is about presenting the results. The achievements of the past year are only the foundation upon which we intend to build a greater Ikosi-Isheri. We shall continue to prioritise the welfare of our people, improve infrastructure, empower our youths and women, and ensure sustainable development for every community,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the Yeyesewa of Ilara Kingdom and Oluomo of Kosofeland reaffirmed her resolve to maintain transparency, accountability and excellence in governance while promising to consolidate on the developmental strides already recorded.

Several dignitaries who attended the anniversary commended the Mayoress for her visionary leadership, describing her first year in office as one characterised by dedication, accessibility and visible developmental projects.

They praised her administration’s investment in social welfare programmes, environmental improvements, educational support initiatives and empowerment schemes aimed at improving the quality of life of residents across the LCDA.

Traditional rulers and community leaders also lauded Princess Bada’s inclusive leadership style, noting that her open-door policy has strengthened collaboration between the council administration and the various communities within Ikosi-Isheri.

Youth representatives and women’s groups equally applauded the Mayoress for creating opportunities that have enhanced entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and economic empowerment, particularly among women and young people.

The anniversary celebration featured cultural displays, musical performances, goodwill messages, presentation of awards and special prayers for the continued peace, unity and progress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.
