…as Chairman Ashimi advocates synergy to tackle child malnutrition
In his address, Chairman Ashimi declared his readiness to offer adequate support, urging stakeholders to provide their full cooperation to give nursing mothers the vital support needed for their well-being. This builds on similar gestures rendered through Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) Week and the ₦3M Monthly Special Support Fund orchestrated by his administration.
Dr. Adenike Oluwo, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District II – who was accompanied by her team and a delegation from the Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board (LSPHCB) – lauded the Council Mayor for his inclusive governance culture and for providing a space required to actualise the initiative. Dr Oluwo further urged mothers to prioritise their children’s development against all odds.
Officials from NGX and HEI jointly reiterated their long-term commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children and ending child malnutrition. They stated that Somolu is among the key localities that raised the bar to ensure the community health initiative comes to fruition efficiently, while also highlighting the nutritional value of the supplements provided.
