Somolu Local Govt upholds month-end environmental sanitation as Chairman Ashimi, others monitor exercise

…applaud Gov. Sanwo-Olu, LAWMA for grassroots support

The unified Somolu Local Government administration under Chairman Ashimi has demonstrated its pivotal commitment to a safer and healthier community, following an impressive engagement and monitoring exercise during today’s environmental sanitation held across all wards.

Demonstrating a hands-on leadership style, Chairman Ashimi led by example to ensure active participation and toured various wards and major streets within the local government to monitor compliance. He was accompanied by Rt. Hon. Tunde James Oyeyiola and other Councillors; the SLG, Hon. Ayo Coker Hector, and other Executive members; and the Chief of Staff, Prince Sodiq Adeeso, alongside other political aides.

“The primary intent of this tour was to ensure strict compliance in keeping our surroundings clean, because it is our collective responsibility, and to ensure blocked drainage channels are cleared ahead of the peak rainy season.”

“We must applaud Gov. Sanwo-Olu for reintroducing this exercise; it will definitely strengthen our people’s commitment to a cleaner environment. We also thank our LAWMA officers for their relentless service. Going forward, we shall always ensure adequate monitoring for effectiveness,” he added.

With prompt environmental updates from Comrade Issa Kushimo, the Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Yomi Osunkoya, was joined by the Sanitarian Hafeez Ogunbekun-led Environmental Department; KAI, NULGE, NOA, LNSC representatives, and other top Management Staff, including environmental and security officers from the State, as well as other agencies, to strengthen the current administration’s advocacy for frequent cleanup activities beyond the last Saturday of every month.

Upon witnessing the credible turnout during the thorough inspection, Chairman Ashimi praised all residents, market men and women, CDC/CDA and Union Members and others who upheld the significance of a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment, stressing that the next exercise will be even more productive.
