2027 Primary Election: Hon. Ademorin Kuye, Salawu ‘Dullar’ forge political alliance

In a significant political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Somolu Federal Constituency, Hon. Aliu Ademorin Kuye, and the immediate past Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu, popularly known as ‘Dullar,’ have formally forged a strategic political alliance.

The alliance, which was sealed on Thursday, April 16, 2026, is widely seen as a calculated move to consolidate political strength ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

The convergence, held at Hon. Kuye’s constituency office in Pedro, witnessed a large turnout of political stakeholders, party faithful, and supporters drawn from both Somolu and Bariga communities. The gathering created an atmosphere of unity and renewed political vigour, as leaders from both camps emphasised the need for cohesion and a shared vision to advance the interests of the constituency.

Dullar, in his remarks, appreciated Hon. Kuye for his exemplary leadership, noting that he has etched his name in gold in the history of politics in Somolu and Nigeria as a whole.

He further emphasised the need for unity among the stakeholders and supporters in order to achieve the goal of the gathering, where and when necessary.

Observers noted that the alliance signals a possible realignment within the Somolu APC structure, with both leaders bringing considerable grassroots influence and political experience to the table. Hon. Kuye, a serving federal lawmaker, and AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar,’ who is credited with impactful grassroots governance during his tenure as council chairman, are regarded as formidable forces in Somolu politics.

Speaking on the development, a prominent APC stalwart and former Somolu APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Femi Taiwo, described the alliance as a timely and strategic decision. He noted that the collaboration represents “a right step in the right direction,” stressing that unity among party leaders remains crucial for electoral success.

Taiwo further expressed optimism that the alliance would strengthen the Hon. Dullar’s chances in the forthcoming elections, urging party members and supporters to rally behind the emerging political front for the overall progress of Somolu Federal Constituency.

Another political analyst within the area, Mr Adelanwa Abolore, also said that the partnership could reshape the dynamics of the upcoming primaries, as it potentially harmonises key interests and reduces internal party rivalry.

However, while the political landscape continues to evolve, residents and stakeholders in Somolu and Bariga are keenly watching how the alliance will influence the build-up to the APC primaries and, ultimately, the 2027 general elections.
