The well-attended event, no doubt, was a top-notch affair that brought together children from diverse backgrounds who participated in games like tongue-twisting, dance competitions, talent hunts, tug-of-war, and many others.
Speaking at the event, the convener of the initiative, Mr Oluwaseun Adeagbo, described the initiative as a game-changer for the children in the community, which he said will go a long way in bringing out the best in them.
He added, “As a teacher myself, I want to impart to them something tangible and see them develop, which is the reason I put together the programme which I believe will not only keep them busy but will bring out the best in them academically, morally and psychologically”.
Similarly, another member of the committee and community leader, Mr Anthony Anenke, lauded the initiator for coming up with such a fantastic initiative, noting that the event no doubt will give the children a sense of belonging where they get to know one another and also help them in their academic pursuits.
“We see this as a welcome development in the community, and we hope the next edition will be more elaborate and exciting. We give it to the sponsors and the convener of the initiative for giving the children the opportunity to exhibit their talent, which I believe will also help them in their academic as well as their social well-being in society”.
In addition, one of the speakers who addressed the children at the event, Mrs Maraiyesa, said the essence of the programme was not limited to just having fun but to further instil in them the basic things they need to do at home while away from the four walls of the classrooms that’ll help them become better versions of themselves.
She, however, urged the parents and guidance not to leave their duty to the teacher, noting that when parents play their roles, the teachers also play theirs, the battle is won, and the victory is achieved together.
In the same vein, one of the parents of the participants, Mrs Olusola Oladipupo, in her remarks, poured encomium on the organisers for putting together the initiative, describing the event as one that would give the children the opportunity to have fun, especially the children whose parents have no time to take them out for such a funfair.
“I see this as an opportunity for the children to have fun and learn one or two things that’ll benefit them, and I want to urge parents to support the organisers in their own little way to make the next edition more exciting and memorable”. She echoed.
Meanwhile, many of the children went home with lots of gifts and smiles on their faces, with more promising efforts to be more prepared in the next editions.
