Hon. Ashimi assures sustained social support as Somolu holds 6th Renewed Hope Food Palliative

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, successfully flagged off the 6th Edition of the Renewed Hope Food Palliative Programme, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of residents across the council area.

The event, which took place at the Council Secretariat, witnessed a large turnout of beneficiaries, including the elderly, vulnerable households, widows, persons living with disabilities and other indigent members of the community.

In his address, Hon. Lateef Ashimi stated that the Renewed Hope Food Palliative Initiative remains a strategic intervention not only designed to cushion the effects of economic hardship but also to support Muslim and Christian faithful and their families with essential food supplies as they observe the month-long fast. He emphasised that governance must be people-centred and compassionate, noting that the programme reflects his administration’s dedication to inclusive development and social support.

“This 6th edition is not just about distributing food items; it is about renewing hope, strengthening community bonds, and ensuring that no resident of Somolu is left behind,” the Chairman remarked.

He further assured residents that the local government will continue to roll out impactful programmes that directly touch lives, while also encouraging citizens to support government efforts through prompt payment of rates and taxes, which enable the council to sustain developmental initiatives.

The programme also featured goodwill remarks from party and legislative leaders who commended the Executive Chairman for his exemplary leadership and consistency in delivering people-oriented programmes.

The newly elected Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Somolu Chapter, Pastor Adefalujo Olisa, described Hon. Ashimi as a compassionate, visionary, and result-driven leader whose administration continues to prioritize the welfare of the grassroots.

He noted that the Renewed Hope Food Palliative Initiative reflects the progressive ideals of the party and demonstrates responsive governance at the local level.

Similarly, the APC Apex Woman Leader, Mrs Abosede Ogunlaja, praised the Chairman’s inclusive leadership style, describing him as attentive to the needs of women, widows, and vulnerable residents. She stated that the initiative has brought relief and renewed confidence to many households within the community.

In his remarks, the Leader of the House, Hon. James Oyeyiola, lauded the Executive Chairman’s dedication, transparency, and proactive approach to governance. He assured residents of the continued collaboration and support of the Legislative Arm in sustaining policies and programmes that uplift the standard of living in Somolu.
