The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has led top council officials to congratulate the Director of Public Affairs, Mr Olusegun Akinyemi, on his appointment as the new Council Manager (CM) of Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The congratulatory message followed the recent promotion and administrative reorganisation carried out by the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission (LSLGSC), which resulted in Mr Akinyemi’s elevation and redeployment to Imota LCDA in a key administrative capacity.
In a statement jointly endorsed by the council leadership, Hon. Ashimi, alongside the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Hassan Ojomu, members of the Executive Council, and the Management Leadership led by the Council Manager, Mr. Abiodun Peters Babington, described the appointment as “well-deserved and timely,” noting that it reflects Mr. Akinyemi’s years of dedicated service, professionalism, and commitment to effective public communication and administration.
Hon. Ashimi praised Mr Akinyemi’s impactful tenure as Director of Public Affairs in Somolu Local Government, where he was credited with strengthening the council’s information management system, promoting transparency, and enhancing public engagement with government activities.
“Mr Akinyemi has been a dependable and hardworking officer whose contributions to the growth and positive image of Somolu Local Government cannot be overstated. His appointment as Council Manager of Imota LCDA is a testament to his competence and integrity,” the chairman stated.
Similarly, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ojomu, and other executive members expressed confidence in Mr Akinyemi’s ability to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new role, assuring that he would contribute meaningfully to effective grassroots governance and service delivery in Imota LCDA.
While wishing him success in his new assignment, the Somolu Local Government leadership also thanked him for his meritorious service to the council and urged him to continue to uphold the values of diligence, accountability, and excellence that distinguished his career in Somolu.
Mr Akinyemi, in his response, expressed deep appreciation to the chairman, management, and staff of Somolu Local Government for their support over the years, describing his time in the council as a defining phase of his public service journey. He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by the LSLGSC through dedicated service to the people of Imota LCDA.
The transition, the council noted, aligns with the broader vision of strengthening local government administration across Lagos State in line with the #AGreaterLagosRising agenda.
