The latest intervention comes on the heels of completed reconstruction works on Olaleye Street, Akeju Street, Israel Oyekan Street, Dabira Street, and Albert Street, all executed within a short period after the chairman assumed office. According to officials of the local government, the ongoing reconstruction of Duru Close and Abimbola Street will include proper drainage systems, durable road surfacing, and pedestrian-friendly layouts to address long-standing flooding and accessibility challenges. The administration noted that the choice of roads was informed by residents’ feedback and the urgency of deterioration observed in the affected areas.
Speaking on the development, Chairman Ashimi reiterated his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance, stressing that infrastructure development remains a top priority. He assured residents that the projects would be executed to standard and delivered within scheduled timelines to minimise disruption to daily activities.
Meanwhile, one of the community leaders and residents, Mr Abayomi Okanlawon, who spoke with Somolu News, lauded the pace and spread of the road projects, describing them as a clear demonstration of responsive leadership, expressing optimism that the ongoing works would boost local commerce, improve safety, and restore confidence in grassroots governance.
