Ashimi welcomes residents to 2026, reaffirms commitment to grassroots development in Somolu

The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has extended warm New Year greetings to residents, assuring them of renewed commitment to grassroots development as the council ushers in the year 2026.

In a New Year message released on January 1, 2026, Ashimi described the new year as a season of fresh beginnings and collective determination, emphasising the administration’s resolve to deliver people-oriented governance.

“As the sun rises on January 1, 2026, it brings the promise of new beginnings and the strength of our collective resolve. On behalf of the administration of Somolu Local Government, I wish every resident a Happy New Year”. The chairman stated.

Reflecting on the outgoing year, Ashimi noted that 2025 was marked by resilience and shared dedication to progress, adding that the council made notable strides toward positioning Somolu as a hub for commerce, culture, and infrastructural growth.

He stressed that the administration remains focused on sustaining development initiatives and ensuring that residents experience an impactful year ahead.

“As we step into 2026, our focus remains steadfast in ensuring an impactful year ahead,” He said, while hinting at intensified efforts to deepen development at the grassroots level.

The Somolu council boss reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and programmes that will improve the quality of life of residents, strengthen local infrastructure, and promote inclusive growth across communities in the local government area.

Ashimi concluded by calling for continued cooperation and support from residents, expressing optimism that 2026 would usher in greater opportunities and sustainable development for Somolu.
