Festive Season: Lagos councillor splashes N2,500.000 cash palliative on party members, residents

In just four months of assuming office, one of the dedicated Councillors in the Somolu local government area of the state, Hon. Folarin Olubiyi, popularly known as Coded, has distributed cash palliatives to party members and residents of Ijebutedo Ward C to ease the burden of hardship, especially during this festive season.

Hon. Olubiyi, who spoke to Somolu Newspaper at Wright Memorial Primary School on Tuesday, 24th December 2025, reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the people he represents, noting that giving back to the community is his ultimate priority.

He continued, “The essence of this initiative is to put smiles on the faces of my constituents who voted for me during the electioneering period with a promise to give them dividends of democracy, which is what I have just done a while ago, and I promise to continue to see to their welfare when and where necessary”.

“This is a festive season worthy of celebrating when members of the family either sit at home or find a comfortable place to enjoy themselves, and supporting with cash Palliative in that manner will not be a bad idea”.

“Aside from this cash palliative programme, there are other line-up programmes for the youths and women in the community that will give them the sense of belonging they crave for”. He posited.

In her remarks, one of the beneficiaries of the cash Palliative, Mrs Bolanle Solomon, showered the initiator with encomium, stating that the cash incentive will no doubt be enough to put food on her table, especially this festive season when everyone will be at home to enjoy the season.

Similarly, another beneficiary, Mr Tajudeen Oloko, never hesitates to appreciate Hon. Olubiyi Folarin for his ‘heart of gold’ remembering his people this festive season, noting that such a gesture assured them that they have an exemplary leader and representative worthy of emulation.

Meanwhile, top political leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the ward have described the initiative as a laudable one, while they commended Hon. Olubiyi and urged him not to rest on his oars.

However, in his closing remarks, Coded as fondly called, thanked the Immediate Past Chairman of Somolu LG, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ the current council Chairman, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, party leaders, members and the residents for their unflinching support, while he urged the residents to validate their voter’s card for the upcoming 2027 general election.
