The Somolu Local Government Area has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of one of its devoted staff members, Mr Ahmed Opaleye, who worked directly with the Council Treasurer.
According to an eyewitness account from the council, Mr. Opaleye passed away on Monday, leaving behind colleagues and associates deeply saddened by his untimely demise.
Described as a gentle, compassionate, and highly committed officer, Mr Opaleye was known for his remarkable dedication to duty and his invaluable contributions to the financial administration of the local government.
Council officials and staff have continued to express grief over the loss, noting that his passing has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill. His calm disposition, professionalism, and integrity reportedly earned him the respect of both senior officers and subordinates within the council.
In a condolence message by the Council’s NULGE Chairman, Comrade Bello Waheed Olalekan, he prayed for the repose of his soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and comfort the bereaved family.
“We painfully lost a trusted officer – Mr. Ahmed Opaleye – whose dedication to service was truly exceptional. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him paradise, and give the family the fortitude to bear this great loss,” the statement read in part.
The late Mr Opaleye has since been committed to Mother Earth according to Islamic rites and will be remembered for his selfless service, humility, and unwavering commitment to the progress of Somolu Local Government.
