Ashimi distributes N100,000 ‘Renewed Hope Cash’ to 500 Somolu Residents

…gifts Baales six exotic cars, pampers LG staff with Coastal Bus and Ambulance

In another remarkable gesture aimed at empowering residents and boosting grassroots development, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi, has distributed N100,000 each to 500 entrepreneurs totaling N50,000,000.00 across the community under the ‘Renewed Hope Cash Support Initiative’.

The disbursement, which took place at the council secretariat on Thursday 30th of October 2025, attracted jubilant residents, community leaders, and party faithful who described the initiative as a beacon of hope in the face of economic challenges confronting small-scale business owners.

Hon. Ashimi explained that the programme was designed to provide direct financial support to petty traders, artisans, and small business owners, helping them expand their ventures and sustain their livelihoods.

“This initiative is a deliberate effort to support our hardworking traders and entrepreneurs. We believe that by empowering small businesses, we are strengthening the economic base of our community,” Ashimi stated. “The Renewed Hope Cash will not only impact their businesses positively but also improve the well-being of their families.”

The council boss noted that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which emphasizes economic empowerment and community development at the grassroots level.

In a related development, Hon. Ashimi also presented six exotic cars to the Baales (traditional rulers) of Somolu as a mark of honour and appreciation for his continuous support toward peace and development in the area.

Furthermore, in his characteristic show of generosity, the chairman gifted the Local Government staff a coastal bus to ease their daily movement and also handed over a brand-new ambulance to the council’s health department to enhance emergency response and healthcare delivery within the community.

Beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Cash initiative expressed heartfelt gratitude to the chairman, describing him as a visionary leader committed to the welfare of his people.

Mrs. Funke Adeyemi, a fashion designer who received the cash support, said the gesture came at the right time.

“With the N100,000 I received today, I will be able to purchase new sewing machines and fabrics for my business. Hon. Ashimi has truly shown that he cares about small business owners like us,” she said with excitement.

Community leaders and youth representatives also commended the council boss for his consistent interventions in welfare, infrastructure, and empowerment programmes, saying his leadership style reflects transparency and compassion.

However , as Somolu continues to witness unprecedented community-oriented initiatives, Hon. Ashimi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making the local government a model of inclusive growth, unity, and sustainable development.
